SYNOPSIS
Based on “Let Me Take You Down”, the biography of Mark David Chapman, as well as 82 hours of audio tape with the killer, a collection of childhood photos and a current relationship with Chapman and his wife, JEALOUS GUY AKA A DAY IN DECEMBER tells the assassination story of John Lennon with an attention to detail and a psychological depth never before attempted.
Starting in 1964, as The Beatles touch down at Idlewild Airport in New York City, unwittingly entering the American consciousness in a way no musician ever had before, Diane Chapman, mother of a 9 year old Mark David Chapman, introduced The Beatles to her son’s developing consciousness by giving him a copy of the band’s first record: “Meet the Beatles”.
It was there, in Chapman’s childhood bedroom, that an obsession began that would grow increasingly sinister until
it ended the life of the world’s most famous musician on Dec 8th 1980.
Running two distinct timelines, we watch, as the man who had everything slowly collides with the man who had nothing over a 16 year period, setting the psychology of success, creativity and limitless hope next to the psychology of failure and rage.
